In the 2024-25 academic year, Alcova Elementary School recorded 76 enrollments among multiracial students—an increase of 2.7% compared with the prior year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
Official data showed Alcova Elementary School had a total of 1,535 students for 2024-25. Of those, multiracial students made up 5% of the population, placing them as the school’s second-smallest student group.
The school operates as part of the Gwinnett County School District, which is headquartered in Lawrenceville.
Within the district, which includes 140 schools, Brookwood High School reported the highest multiracial enrollment in 2024-25 with 187 students.
According to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report, Georgia public schools served over 1.7 million students. Of these, elementary schools had 787,206 students (45.9%), middle schools had 388,733 students (22.7%), and high schools totaled 539,092 students (31.4%).
Post-pandemic, 20.7% of Georgia’s students missed at least 10% of their school days in 2024, highlighting ongoing concerns around chronic absenteeism, the Georgia Department of Education reported. To address the issue, GaDOE launched new statewide efforts, including a real-time attendance dashboard and support for high-need districts.
In 2025, state lawmakers revised school attendance statutes to prohibit expulsions solely for absenteeism. The updates also implement more detailed reporting rules and coordinate with initiatives offering alternative diploma routes for students.
By 2026, Georgia’s average student-teacher ratio was about 14:1, performing better than the national ratio of 15:1.
