A total of 313 Hispanic students were enrolled at Arcado Elementary in the 2024-25 term, reflecting a 5.4% rise from the prior year, data from the Georgia Department of Education shows.
The school’s overall enrollment reached 896 students for 2024-25. Hispanic students accounted for 35% of all enrolled students, making them the largest demographic represented at the school.
Arcado Elementary is part of the Gwinnett County School District, with district headquarters located in Lawrenceville.
Berkmar High School, one of 140 schools in Gwinnett County School District, reported the largest enrollment of Hispanic students in 2024-25, totaling 2,072.
Statewide, more than 1.7 million students attended Georgia’s public schools, as outlined in the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 enrollment report. The majority were in elementary grades—787,206 students (45.9%)—followed by 388,733 in middle school (22.7%) and 539,092 in high school (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism, with 20.7% of Georgia students missing 10% or more school days in 2024, continues to challenge schools after the pandemic, the Georgia Department of Education reported. In response, GaDOE has rolled out a statewide plan with a real-time attendance dashboard, public awareness efforts and targeted resources for districts with elevated need to improve daily student participation.
During 2025, Georgia legislators approved changes to school attendance regulations prohibiting expulsions solely on absenteeism. The updated law also sets added data reporting obligations and works in tandem with alternative diploma pathways for students.
Georgia maintained an average student-to-teacher ratio of roughly 14:1 as of 2026, exceeding the national average of 15:1, according to recent assessments.
