During the 2024-25 school year, Crews Middle School had an enrollment of 330 Asian students, marking a 10% rise from the prior year, reports the Georgia Department of Education.
The school’s total student population reached 1,436 in 2024-25. Asian students represented 23% of this number, making them the second-largest demographic group at the school.
Crews Middle School is part of Gwinnett County School District, which operates from its central office in Lawrenceville.
Of the 140 schools in Gwinnett County School District, North Gwinnett High School had the largest number of Asian students in 2024-25, enrolling 1,023.
Georgia public schools reported more than 1.7 million students enrolled statewide, based on the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Most students, with 787,206 or 45.9%, were in elementary grades, followed by middle schools at 388,733 (22.7%), and high schools at 539,092 (31.4%).
Chronic absenteeism continues to be a widespread challenge across Georgia’s schools following the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024, Georgia Department of Education data shows. In response, GaDOE implemented a statewide initiative featuring a real-time attendance dashboard, a public awareness campaign, and targeted support for districts with higher needs to improve attendance.
In 2025, a new law updated Georgia’s school attendance rules to prohibit expelling students solely due to absenteeism. Additional requirements for reporting now apply, and the law is aligned with programs providing alternative diploma opportunities.
By 2026, Georgia had an average student-to-teacher ratio of about 14:1, which is lower than the national average of 15:1.
Note: Because of possible gaps in data, the reported percentages may not add up to exactly 100%.
