FOIA Request to Georgia Gwinnett College Regarding Chinese National Students on June 4, 2025.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, South Gwinnett News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Georgia Gwinnett College. This request seeks detailed information concerning Chinese National students currently enrolled at the institution.

The request specifically asks for documents or lists showing all current students who are Chinese Nationals, along with their respective departments of study. If certain information is protected, we have requested a total number of such students and a breakdown by department.

Additionally, we are seeking records that detail the scholarships awarded to these students, including the amount and source of each scholarship. Furthermore, we have inquired about any scholarships granted through affiliations with the Chinese Scholarship Council.

Our inquiry also extends to university policies or procedures regarding how they monitor students, including Chinese Nationals, to protect intellectual property and other confidential information.

This request is made on behalf of South Gwinnett News and The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. We believe this transparency holds public institutions accountable and informs the American electorate effectively.
