In the 2024-25 school year, Graves Elementary enrolled 10 multiracial students—the same total as the prior year, the Georgia Department of Education reported.

Total enrollment at Graves Elementary reached 1,050 students in 2024-25. Multiracial students represented 1% of the population, making them the smallest demographic group at the school.

Located in the Gwinnett County School District and centrally administered in Lawrenceville, Graves Elementary serves a diverse student body.

Brookwood High School had the largest enrollment of multiracial students in the district for 2024-25, with 187 multiracial students among its 140 schools.

The National Center for Education Statistics reports that Georgia’s public school population is approximately 36.4% Black, 35.9% white, 18.1% Hispanic, 4% Asian, 4.6% multiracial, 0.2% American Indian or Alaska Native, and 0.1% Pacific Islander.

Chronic absenteeism has stayed high across Georgia schools following the pandemic, with 20.7% of students missing at least 10% of school days in 2024. The Georgia Department of Education responded with a statewide initiative, rolling out a real-time attendance dashboard, a public campaign, and focused support to help high-need districts increase daily attendance. More details are available through the official press release.

Legislators in 2025 updated Georgia’s school attendance laws, prohibiting expulsion based solely on absence. The new law also increased reporting requirements and connected alternative diploma options for students. Full details are at the Georgia General Assembly’s bill page.

As of 2026, Georgia reported a 14:1 average student-to-teacher ratio, which is below the current 15:1 national average.
