Reports from the Georgia Department of Education indicate that Graves Elementary School counted 882 Hispanic students in its 2024-25 enrollment, matching the previous year’s total.
The school’s total enrollment reached 1,050 students for 2024-25. Hispanic students represented 84% of the total student population, making them the school’s largest demographic group.
Situated in Gwinnett County School District, Graves Elementary is overseen from the district’s central office in Lawrenceville.
Out of 140 schools in the Gwinnett County School District, Berkmar High School had the largest Hispanic student enrollment for 2024-25, totaling 2,072 students.
Georgia’s public schools enrolled more than 1.7 million students, based on the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 report. Of these, 787,206 students (45.9%) were in elementary grades, 388,733 (22.7%) attended middle school, and 539,092 (31.4%) were in high school.
The Georgia Department of Education reports chronic absenteeism as an ongoing challenge: 20.7% of students missed at least 10% of school days during 2024. A statewide response from the Georgia Department of Education included a real-time attendance dashboard, a public campaign, and targeted support for districts most at risk, in order to improve attendance rates.
A bill was passed by Georgia lawmakers in 2025, updating attendance policies to prohibit expulsion for absenteeism alone. The law also introduces new reporting standards and coordinates with programs providing alternative paths to a diploma.
By 2026, Georgia’s average student-teacher ratio stood at about 14:1, better than the U.S. average of 15:1.
