The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners convened on March 18 to approve several projects that aim to enhance infrastructure and community resources within the county.

The Board contracted Steele & Associates, Inc. for up to $1.3 million to renovate the Ivy Creek Greenway boardwalk. Since its original construction in 2008, inspections in 2023 revealed considerable wear, prompting a structural review. The recommended renovations will include prefabricated aluminum replacements for existing components, prolonging the boardwalk’s usage while minimizing environmental disruption. The project, funded by the 2023 SPLOST program, begins in the third quarter of 2025.

TSW was awarded a $440,000 contract to develop a master plan for Jimmy Carter Boulevard under the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Livable Centers Initiative, supported by $320,000 in grants and $120,000 in local funding. This plan will address land use, transportation, housing, and development in the area.

A-1 Signs, Inc. received a $224,000 contract to install new monument signs at various county locations. The project involves updated signage for several government buildings, aiming to improve public navigation and reflect changing county services.

Wendel Architecture, PC was granted a $3.5 million contract for the architectural and engineering design of the new Gwinnett Place Transit Center, primarily funded by the Federal Transit Administration. The services will include facility design and environmental documentation.
