Gwinnett County has commenced construction on the Gwinnett Community Resource Center located on Grayson Highway in Lawrenceville. The development aims to address community needs through an 84,232-square-foot facility offering mental and behavioral health support, workforce development, and social services navigation.
The center is a collaborative effort with View Point Health and will feature the county’s first inpatient stabilization unit with 30 beds, ensuring 24/7 care access for individuals in crisis. Gwinnett County Chairwoman Nicole Love Hendrickson remarked on the project’s significance, stating: “Too many people struggle in silence, unable to find the help they desperately need. My hope is that this addition to our health and human services network will propel us into a new era of community well-being.” She also emphasized the growing necessity of accessible mental health services.
Additional services at the center will include a temporary observation day center for short-term stabilization for up to 15 people and an outpatient clinic for ongoing mental health support. District 3 Commissioner Jasper Watkins III, part of the View Point Health Board, commented on the facility’s impact: “For too long, we’ve seen the impact of untreated mental health challenges around the country and the world. This Gwinnett Community Resource Center is a game-changer for my district and the entire county, providing intentional care and support to people of all ages.”
The facility will serve as the central hub for Gwinnett County’s OneStop 4 Help initiative, connecting residents with services like housing, food assistance, and employment support through a dedicated Community Navigator space.
Furthermore, a Child Development Center will be available within the center to support working families, providing childcare and early education. Partnership with Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90 will also establish a Veteran and Family Services office at the center, focusing on specialized assistance for veterans and their families.
Multipurpose community rooms will accommodate workforce development programs, training sessions, and serve as warming stations during severe weather. The $46 million project is financed by the American Rescue Plan Act, designed by TSW Design, and built by Reeves Young LLC. The center’s address will be 1040 Grayson Highway.
