Gwinnett County Solicitor-General Lisamarie N. Bristol will donate items collected from the recent “Dog Days of Summer” drive to Ahimsa House, an organization that supports victims of domestic violence and their pets in Georgia.
The donation event is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. It will take place at the Gwinnett Justice and Administrative Center in Lawrenceville.
Ahimsa House is known as the only group in Georgia focused on helping both people and animals escape abusive situations together. The supplies were gathered during a community drive organized by the Solicitor-General’s office.
“Solicitor General Lisamarie N. Bristol is set to donate items collected during the ‘Dog Days of Summer’ drive to Ahimsa House,” according to officials. “This organization is Georgia’s only group dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence and their pets escape abuse together.”
Representatives from both the Solicitor-General’s office and Ahimsa House are expected to attend.
Enrollment at Gwinnett County schools grew by less than 0.1% during the 2022-23 school year compared to the previous year, according to data from the Georgia Department of Education (https://www.gadoe.org/). During that same period, Gwinnett County schools enrolled a total of 190,044 students (https://www.gadoe.org/), with white students making up 18% of the student body—the third most represented ethnic group (https://www.gadoe.org/).
