Crews Middle School reported an enrollment of 258 Hispanic students for the 2024-25 year, a 13.2% increase compared to the previous year, according to the Georgia Department of Education.
The school’s overall enrollment reached 1,436 students in the 2024-25 academic year. Hispanic students accounted for 18% of the school’s total, making them the second-smallest demographic group at Crews Middle School.
Crews Middle School is part of the Gwinnett County School District, headquartered in Lawrenceville.
In the same district, Berkmar High School reported the largest number of Hispanic students in 2024-25, enrolling 2,072 students.
Enrollment in public schools statewide topped 1.7 million students, according to the Georgia Department of Education’s Fiscal Year 2026-1 data. Most students attended elementary schools (787,206, or 45.9%), while middle schools had 388,733 (22.7%), and high schools registered 539,092 (31.4%).
Post-pandemic chronic absenteeism still affects Georgia schools, the department reported. In 2024, 20.7% of students were absent for 10% or more school days. To address absenteeism, the GaDOE introduced a real-time attendance dashboard, launched a public campaign, and provided support in high-need districts to improve daily attendance.
Georgia lawmakers approved a bill in 2025 updating attendance policies, prohibiting expulsions solely due to absenteeism. It also enacted new reporting requirements and supports initiatives for students to earn diplomas through different programs. Details can be found here.
By 2026, the average student-to-teacher ratio in Georgia was about 14:1, slightly better than the national rate of 15:1.
