As the holiday season approaches, Downtown Lawrenceville is preparing a range of events and attractions for residents and visitors. The city will host its 38th Annual Lighting of the Tree at the Historic Courthouse on Thanksgiving evening, continuing a tradition that marks the start of local holiday celebrations.
For the first time, Atlanta’s Christkindl Market will be held on the Lawrenceville Lawn. The market will feature artisan booths, seasonal food and beverages, and German-themed holiday experiences in downtown Lawrenceville.
A new event this year is the Winterlight Walk at Gwinnett Justice & Administration Center (GJAC), located at 75 Langley Drive. This light-filled walk is designed to appeal to visitors of all ages with illuminated displays and festive decorations.
The Lawrenceville Arts Center will offer several performances during the season. Aurora Theatre’s Christmas Canteen, A Christmas Carol, and Festival of Trees are scheduled alongside Southern Performing Arts Academy’s production of The Nutcracker.
Holiday Happenings will take place from November 27 through December 6, bringing ten days of activities across downtown shops, restaurants, and venues. Events include shopping promotions such as Black Friday and Small Business Saturday, workshops, story times, live DJs in Crogan Plaza, charitable drives, craft sessions, and family-oriented entertainment featuring characters like the Grinch and Mrs. Claus.
Downtown businesses are decorating storefronts with lights and seasonal décor. Local restaurants are also offering themed holiday drinks including Sleigh on Perry at Local Republic and Après-Ski at Perry Street Chophouse.
To support these festivities, free public parking is available throughout Downtown Lawrenceville for the season. Information about parking locations can be found at lville.city/ez-2park.
