Rep. Lucy McBath, U.S. Congresswoman representing Georgia’s 7th district since 2019, posted a series of updates on her social media accounts in December 2025 regarding recent legislative actions and developments.
On December 17, McBath addressed her absence from Washington during a key vote, stating, “My statement on H.R. 6703: I was not able to be present in Washington due to an urgent health matter with my husband, Curtis. We appreciate the well wishes from those near and far. If I had been able to vote remotely today, I would have voted NO.” (December 17, 2025).
The following day, she reflected on her office’s achievements for constituents over the past year. In a post dated December 18, McBath wrote, “Here’s a look back at what we accomplished for Georgia’s families this year! I’m grateful to everyone who engaged with my office and helped us deliver for our community.” (December 18, 2025).
Later that same day, McBath commented on President Trump’s executive order concerning marijuana policy: “Today, President Trump signed an executive order to reschedule marijuana, enabling researchers to study its medical benefits more effectively. This order should serve as a critical first step toward meaningful criminal justice reform for marijuana-related offenses as envisioned” (December 18, 2025).
McBath has represented Georgia’s 7th district since defeating Jeff Criswell in the general election by securing nearly three-quarters of the vote in 2024. She succeeded Karen Handel when she assumed office in Congress in 2019.
