Rep. Lucy McBath, a U.S. Congresswoman representing Georgia’s 7th district, addressed several legislative issues in a series of posts on her official social media account between January 13 and 14, 2026.
On January 13, McBath criticized Republican lawmakers for their proposed bill affecting worker compensation. She stated, “Republicans are trying to pay the American people less for the hours they work. I spoke against their proposed bill on the House floor with my @EdWorkforceDems colleagues and Republicans CANCELLED the vote. I’m proud to fight for working families in Georgia and across the” (January 13, 2026).
Later that day, she commented on efforts to address organized retail crime. In her post, McBath said, “In @HouseJudiciary, I spoke in support of H.R. 2853, the Combating Organized Retail Crime Act. Organized retail theft is a large-scale criminal enterprise. This bipartisan solution protects workers, communities, and our economy.” (January 13, 2026).
On January 14, McBath highlighted her position on Social Security benefits for older Americans: “Hard-working Americans have earned their Social Security benefits with every paycheck. We must support and extend the program so that no one has to unexpectedly return to work in their 70’s or 80’s just to feed themselves.” (January 14, 2026).
McBath has represented Georgia’s 7th district since replacing Karen Handel in Congress in 2019. In the most recent general election held in 2024, she secured re-election by defeating Jeff Criswell with approximately three-quarters of the vote.
