Rep. Lucy McBath, U.S. Congresswoman representing Georgia’s 7th district, has used her social media platform to highlight recent legislative actions and reflect on significant anniversaries related to violence and public safety.
On March 16, 2026, McBath posted about joining her colleagues in the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC) to introduce a resolution: “I joined my CAPAC colleagues in introducing a resolution honoring the memories of those we lost and recommitting this Congress to our responsibility to champion solutions that will prevent violence and save lives.”
That same day, she acknowledged the fifth anniversary of the Atlanta spa shootings, which targeted members of the Asian community: “Five years after the Atlanta spa shootings, our city still carries the grief of the eight lives stolen in an act of anti-Asian hate. That tragedy shook our community and left lasting pain for the loved ones and neighbors who continue to mourn.”
Three days later, on March 19, McBath announced new bipartisan efforts against human trafficking: “I am proud to lead my colleagues in launching the Congressional Combating Human Trafficking Caucus, a bipartisan effort to strengthen Congress’s commitment to preventing human trafficking, protecting victims, and holding traffickers accountable. Human trafficking is a grave”
McBath has served in Congress since 2019 after replacing Karen Handel. She was re-elected in 2024 by defeating Jeff Criswell with nearly three-quarters of the vote. Born in Joliet, Illinois in 1960 and currently residing in Marietta at age 62, McBath graduated from Virginia State University with a BA in 1982.
