Rep. Lucy McBath, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 7th district, has been active on social media discussing important legislative and health issues. McBath, who has overcome breast cancer twice, shared her recent initiative with constituents and fellow policymakers.
On April 30, 2025, McBath expressed her commitment to women’s health by sharing her personal history with breast cancer, stating, “I’ve beaten breast cancer twice. No one should endure these battles alone.” She highlighted the importance of keeping women’s health central in critical conversations and mentioned hosting breast cancer survivors and advocates from Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
In another effort to forward legislation, McBath announced on the same day her role in introducing the Clean Slate Act. She wrote, “Today, I’m proud to introduce the Clean Slate Act alongside a group of bipartisan colleagues.” McBath emphasized that individuals who have served their time and are working to rebuild their lives deserve a second chance, underlining the act’s core principle.
Later on April 30, McBath criticized the current administration’s impact on society in its initial 100 days. She noted, “The first 100 days of this Administration have been filled with chaos and cruelty.” McBath addressed the dangerous cuts proposed by the administration and their potential to raise costs of everyday goods, as part of her stance against such policies.
Lucy McBath, aged 62, was born in Joliet, Illinois, and has been serving in Congress since 2019. She graduated from Virginia State University in 1982 with a BA, and currently resides in Marietta.
