Beginning Monday, October 20, Parkview High School will introduce the Evolv weapons detection system as part of its morning arrival procedures. The school has also assigned School Safety Officers (SSOs) to operate the Evolv system throughout the day after morning arrivals.

According to a statement from the school, “The Evolv system is part of our district’s multi-layered approach to school safety and is designed to be fast, non-invasive, and effective.”

During morning arrival, students will use four entry points equipped with Evolv scanners: H-Building, the Main Office entry, the Main Gym, and the back of A-Building. Students are not required to remove phones, keys, or wallets from their bags or pockets before passing through. If an alert is triggered by the scanner, staff will conduct a brief secondary screening. The school recommends that students arrive early to ensure a smooth entry process.

After morning arrivals are complete and classes have started, all late-arriving students and visitors must enter through the Main Office.

“Thank you for your continued support as we implement this important safety measure,” said school officials.

A video demonstration of the Evolv security screening can be viewed on Vimeo, and additional information is available in the Evolv Weapons Detection System FAQs.
