Representative Lucy McBath, serving Georgia’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2019, has been vocal on various issues through her social media presence. Born in Joliet, Illinois, and currently residing in Marietta, McBath continues to engage with constituents and broader audiences via platforms like Twitter.

On May 6, 2025, Rep. McBath addressed the issue of gun violence by stating “Weapons of war have no place on our streets, in our communities, or in our places of worship.” She highlighted coverage from FOX5 Atlanta to support her stance.

The following day, May 7, 2025, she criticized actions taken by the Trump Department of Justice (DOJ), asserting that it had “quietly froze funds meant for crime victims—domestic violence shelters, trauma recovery centers, and legal aid groups—right when survivors needed them most.” McBath described these actions as “dangerous and cruel,” indicating an ongoing investigation alongside Representatives Raskin and Jasmine.

Later that same day, she expressed gratitude towards Gabby Giffords for participating in an event by tweeting “Thanks for joining us @GabbyGiffords!”

Lucy McBath graduated from Virginia State University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She succeeded Karen Handel as a U.S. Congress member representing Georgia’s 7th District.
