Rep. Lucy McBath, U.S. Congresswoman representing Georgia’s 7th district, posted a series of statements on December 18, 2025, emphasizing her commitment to criminal justice reform and commenting on recent developments related to marijuana policy.

In a tweet published at 21:34 UTC, McBath stated, “I stand ready to put people over profits and advance comprehensive criminal justice reform.”

Addressing changes in marijuana policy the same day, she wrote, “While the order will benefit the legal cannabis industry and medical research, reform cannot stop here. This order does not change the criminal penalties or considerations for marijuana-related offenses. Tens of thousands of individuals remain incarcerated for these offenses,” also at 21:34 UTC.

Later that evening at 22:23 UTC, McBath shared a year-end reflection with the message: “A Look Back at the Year in Numbers”.

McBath has been serving in Congress since 2019 after replacing Karen Handel. In the most recent election held in 2024, she defeated Jeff Criswell by a significant margin—winning nearly three-quarters of the vote.
