Lucy McBath, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Georgia’s 7th district, has shared several statements through her Twitter account on May 15, 2025. These statements reflect her commitment to honoring law enforcement officers and supporting educational programs for children.
On May 15, McBath commemorated Peace Officers Memorial Day with a message acknowledging the sacrifices made by law enforcement officers who died in the line of duty. She expressed gratitude for their dedication to community protection, stating: “On Peace Officers Memorial Day, we honor and remember the brave men and women of law enforcement who gave their lives in the line of duty. We are forever grateful for their sacrifice and their dedication to protecting our communities.”
Later that day, she highlighted the upcoming 60th anniversary of Head Start programs, emphasizing the importance of continued investment in these educational initiatives. Her tweet read: “As we prepare to honor 60 years of Head Start, we must continue to invest in these transformational programs that set our children (and maybe more future members of Congress!) up for success.”
In another statement during National Police Week, McBath advocated for legislation aimed at enhancing officer safety and well-being. She addressed mental health issues within law enforcement and called for congressional action: “During National Police Week, I spoke in favor of legislation to improve officer safety and well-being. Mental health stigma and lack of resources prevent many from seeking help. Healthy officers are more effective public servants for our communities. Congress must act.”
Lucy McBath has been serving as a U.S. Congress member since replacing Karen Handel in 2019. Born in Joliet, Illinois in 1960 and currently residing in Marietta, McBath is an alumna of Virginia State University.
