Sen. Clint Dixon (R-Buford) said he "will not stand" for the cancellation of parents and other citizens who speak out against the Critical Race Theory Curriculum being taught in local schools.

Dixon joined concerned parents at mid-June Gwinnett County Board of Education meeting to speak out against the "politicization of our education system."

"Over the past few months we have seen our board of education hijacked by leftist partisans trying to force their anti-American rhetoric down the throats of our students. Now, they are engaged in an intentional effort to threaten and cancel parents and other who have stood up in protest. My message is very clear, concerned parents or citizens speaking out should not be threatened and certainly should not be 'canceled' by these radicals," Dixon said in a Facebook post.

In the post, Dixon said school officials should be focused on much needed life skills such as how to write a check, pay bills and file taxes.

District officials were grateful there weren't any confrontations between parents and board members. However, the district did take precautions by having law enforcement on standby in the parking lot of the J. Alvin Wilbanks Instructional Support Center where the meeting was held, the Gwinnett Daily Post reported.

The Gwinnett Daily Post also reported people who attended the meeting had to go through a security screening tent prior to entering.
