Gwinnett County’s new high school, which will open next August, recently announced that its teams will be known as the Seckinger High School Jaguars.
According to a release from the school, deciding the mascot is the most recent step in creating a school community. This involves choosing both the school’s mascot and colors. Focus groups helped with the process in deciding the color scheme, which are Pantone 312C Blue, Pantone 421 Gray, Pantone 423 Gray and Pantone Black 6.
“We have laid the groundwork for a school culture that is focused on students and how to best provide them a next-generation learning experience in which they can excel in academics, athletics and the arts,” newly hired Principal Memorie Reesman said in the release. “As the hub of the district’s first theme cluster, Seckinger’s focus on artificial intelligence is uncommon … just like the black jaguar that will represent our school.”
The school’s website describes Seckinger High School as a “next generation" high school that will offer innovative learning opportunities and preparation for fast-paced environments of the future.
A patch.com report said the new high school will offer students the chance to focus on their interests with subjects including humanities, international business, advanced sciences and technology. There is also a major focus on artificial intelligence.
Reesman, in a letter to the school community on the school’s website, said students will be offered the chance to thrive in all kinds of areas including athletics, fine arts, student organizations and extra curricular activities, and more.
“The total student experience is a high priority at SHS,” Reesman wrote.
