It has been a holiday season to remember for one local compact equipment dealer, but the memories will not be festive.

Thieves trespassed into the Norcross Bobcat store on Christmas Day and stole a multitude of heavy equipment, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

"The crooks must've used some pretty strong bolt cutter to pop through the heavy-gauge chain," Fox 5 Atlanta reported. "Then they open this gate and had a field day on this lot — grabbing any piece of heavy equipment they could get their hands on — the whole time the cameras are rolling."

Branch manager Jason Annett told Fox 5 Atlanta that initially, the burglars just cut the chain to the store's sliding gate before the alarm sent them running. They returned the next day to steal equipment.

"That point proceeded to steal about 13 pieces of equipment," Annett said. "They stole 9 Zero-Turn Mowers, a drum mulcher, two forestry mulchers, an MT100, a UV34, and three trailers."

The crooks were organized in their crime spree, as they loaded up the equipment onto trailers and proceeded to hook them up to pickups, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. The robbery was recorded on surveillance video, with Annett estimating the thieves managed to steal approximately $210,000 in equipment.

"When you’re able to make away with as much money as they did in equipment — I guess you gotta say maybe they knew what they were doing," Annett said.

While Annett desires to retrieve some of the stolen merchandise, he hopes the perpetrators are caught so that no other businesses will be affected by their brazen actions, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.

"It doesn't give me a warm feeling," Annett said. "We're stepping up our security and doing everything we can to prevent it from happening again."
