The Atlanta Hawks and Papa John's International Inc. celebrated National Pizza Day by announcing a multi-year deal that makes Papa John's the official pizza partner of the NBA team.

According to a release on the team website, the Hawks join the Miami Heat, Orlando Magic, and Washington Wizards as the only NBA teams with a pizza partnership. To celebrate their union, the Hawks and Papa John's spent National Pizza Day holding pizza parties at Boys & Girls Clubs in the Atlanta area.

Beyond providing good food to the organization and its fans, Papa Johns is committed to working with the Hawks to positively impact the community, the release said. “Hawks Spirit Days,” will involve youth at select Community Centers around Atlanta. The Hawks and Papa John's will also host “Business of Basketball” events to promote youth leadership among historically black colleges and universities.

“Our partnership with Papa John's goes beyond pizza,” Hawks’ Executive Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Andrew Saltzman said in the release. “At the Hawks, we are always looking for partners who are committed to making a profound impact on the community, and we are thrilled that Papa John's is aligned with us in seeing the value and importance for how they can affect so many across metro Atlanta.”

The two organizations will also partner on digital content, including the team’s annual schedule announcement and events at Papa John's Test Kitchen located in its new global hub at The Battery Atlanta. Papa John's will also receive featured brand placement during Hawks home games.

“We at Papa John's have received such a warm welcome from the Atlanta area since announcing our plans to open a new global hub here,” Max Wetzel, Papa John’s Chief Commercial Officer said in the release. “Papa John's team members work every day to help people gather and enjoy pizza together, and we are honored to be named the official pizza partner of the Atlanta Hawks, a team that brings together fans of all ages and backgrounds from across the region.”
