The World Series trophy is coming to Gwinnett County, allowing baseball fans who don't often go to Major League games a chance to see it.

The Gwinnett Stripers will host the trophy at Coolray Field during the season opener on April 12, the Stripers reported in a release. The team will be playing against Nashville starting at 7:05 p.m.

"We are proud to welcome the Braves World Champions Trophy Tour to Coolray Field for our Opening Night," Erin McCormick, the Stripers' vice president and general manager, said in the release. "The road to this Championship came through Gwinnett and we’re so excited to share this historic celebration with our fans and Braves family."

As the Braves' Triple-A affiliate, the Stripers gave 23 of the Major Leaguers a chance to sharpen their skills in the minors before moving up to the big club. Braves manager Brian Snitker even served a stint with the Stripers from 2014-2016, the Stripers reported.

The trophy is on a 151-stop journey to let baseball fans in many states see it. The World Champions Trophy Tour, presented by Truist Financial, will hit various towns in Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee, the Braves reported.

The tour will also be making a stop at Coolray Field before opening day, during the Atlanta Braves Ralph Garr-Bill Lucas Historically Black College and University Baseball Classic on Feb. 26, the Stripers reported.
