Atlanta Gladiators' Chris Nell has been named the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) Goaltender of The Week.
Nell earned the honor for the week of Jan. 24-30, the ECHL reported in a release.
"Can we get a Nell Yeah?! Chris Nell has been named the @ECHL Goaltender of the Week," the Gladiators said on Twitter.
Nell, originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, recorded a shutout in going 2-0 for the week with an overall .965 save percentage, the ECHL reported. After playing 14 games this season, Nell boasts a goals-against average of 3.24 and a .893 save percentage.
Throughout his career with the ECHL, Nell has played in 94 games with a 37-47-5 record, the ECHL reported. He's contributed to four shutouts and sits with a .894 save percentage.
During his college hockey days at Bowling Green State University, he played 84 games with a 41-29-1 record that included 11 shutouts, the ECHL reported. He recorded a goals-against average of 2.07 and a .922 save percentage.
