Tyler Allgeier, a rookie running back with the Atlanta Falcons, is hopeful about his chances of continuing in the backfield, a recent report on the team's website said.

The former Brigham Young University (BYU) running back, who was drafted by the Falcons just a few weeks ago, signed his rookie contract on May 12 and has begun practicing with the team.

"This is a whole different offense, a whole different scheme, but there are a lot of the same things I was being asked to do in college," Allgeier said in the report. "It's about mastering that and then continuing to develop my game."

Allgeier also got insight into the Falcons' approach after receiving the team's playbook one week prior to signing his contract, allowing him to have a productive rookie minicamp, which included meetings and practice sessions.

After completing minicamp, he'll join veteran teammates who are currently participating in an offseason program that will last until the middle of June.

Allgeier expressed his eagerness to train with veterans such as Cordarrelle Patterson and Damien Williams under running backs coach Michael Pitre.

"It's about picking their brains, seeing what they're doing and mirroring it," Allgeier said. "The most important thing is getting the playbook down and then taking it day by day."

Allgeier was acquired with the 151st overall pick after general manager Terry Fontenot and head coach Arthur Smith determined that he was an ideal fit for the team and made it a priority to pursue him.
