City of Lawrenceville Accepting Applications for Board Vacancies

City of Lawrenceville issued the following announcement on Sept. 14.

Application Deadline October 1, 2021.

The City of Lawrenceville is currently accepting applications for vacancies on nine volunteer boards made up of Lawrenceville citizens. There are approximately 60 available positions for 2022 across all boards and citizens and business owners are welcome to apply.

“The City of Lawrenceville depends heavily on the involvement of the business community and its citizens to ensure the many facets of our city government serve our community in the most effective way possible,” said Mayor David Still.  “This process allows the City to involve citizens and local business leaders invested in our community in important visionary, advisory, and transparency roles.”  

Applications can be found here and should be submitted by October 1 for the following boards:

  • Downtown Architectural Review Board - Meets monthly (or as needed) and aids in the revitalization and the preservation of the character of the downtown area.  
  • Board of Appeals - Meets monthly (or as needed) and its purpose is to serve as a judicial branch of the City of Lawrenceville in respect to zoning and development issues.
  • Lawrenceville Development Authority - Meets on an as needed basis and serves as a resource to the City to provide economic development services to the entire City limits.
  • Downtown Development Authority - Meets monthly (or as needed) and serves as a resource to the City to provide economic development specifically in the downtown area. 
  • Financial Review Citizen Committee - The purpose of this committee is to educate citizens, business owners, and community leaders on the financial operations of the City and ultimately to encourage input into the budgetary process in order to support transparency with the Public.
  • Lawrenceville Housing Authority - Meets monthly (or as needed) to promote adequate and affordable housing, economic opportunity, and a suitable living environment.
  • Lawrenceville Arts Commission - Meets monthly (or as needed) and promotes the expansion, education, and enhancement of public art in the City of Lawrenceville.
  • Planning Commission - Meets monthly and provides recommendations to council after receiving input from planning staff and the public on zonings and special use permits in the City.
  • Stormwater Utility Board - Meets monthly (or as needed) and facilitates repairs and upgrades to existing stormwater systems throughout the City.
