'SHINE as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom!': GCPS offering hiring bonuses

Gwinnett County Public Schools (GCPS) is seeking to hire paraprofessionals and offering hiring bonuses to applicants.

According to a news release from GCPS, new paraprofessionals can qualify for a hiring incentive of $1,500 and an additional $500 with proof of a COVID-19 vaccination.

"SHINE as a paraprofessional in a special education classroom! New parapros can qualify for a hiring incentive of $1,500 and an additional $500 with proof of COVID-19 vaccination," GCPS announced in an Oct. 1 Twitter post.

Paraprofessionals provide support, supervision, care and instruction to students with special needs in regular and special education classrooms and in the community.

Qualifying new employees hired on or after June 7 will be eligible for the $1,500 incentive for serving one full school year and the $500 COVID-19 vaccination bonus.

Part-time positions (20 hours) are currently available, with benefits and training provided. Pay range for positions varies from $16,930 to $36,280 (full-time) and GCPS paraprofessionals may be eligible to apply for a partnership with Georgia Gwinnett College to seek teaching certification.

Those seeking a position are encouraged to complete an online application and register for the paraprofessionals virtual interview session.
