The Gwinnett Police Department arrested a man who turned himself in for shooting his wife at approximately 4:30 a.m. Oct. 14.
Keisha Dowdell, 43, died after being shot by her 45-year-old husband, Corey Dowdell, according to WSB-TV.
According to MSN, the shooting happened at a home on 2622 Gloster Mill Drive in Lawrenceville.
Witnesses in the home told investigators they heard arguing and shots being fired, WSB-TV reported.
WSB-TV asked the woman's friends what they thought about a video of Corey Dowdell being arrested. “That was too much, Doreen Hamilton said. "You smile at the fact that you just killed your wife?”
Hamilton and April Payne were at the scene before Keisha Dowdell was shot and said they both tried to stop the argument between the couple before it escalated, according to MSN.
“I saw her with a big knot on her head. I saw them both with guns and I wish I could … I saw them both with guns so I left the room and when I made it to the bottom of the stairs I heard the gunshot,” Payne told WSB-TV.
“I don’t feel like he really wanted her dead. I think it was the alcohol and it went too far,” Hamilton told WSB-TV.
According to CBS 46, Dowdell was charged with felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
