Georgia Governor Brian P. Kemp has authorized a $10 million investment in Israeli bonds to bolster defense efforts in the region, increasing Georgia's total bond investment in Israel to $25 million. This move demonstrates the state's commitment to supporting Israel as a key ally and fostering stability and security in the Middle East.

In a press release by the Governor's Office, Kemp stated, "Israel is one of Georgia's strongest allies and greatest friends, and our support for its people as they endure horrific attacks from terrorists is unwavering. Purchasing these bonds is just the latest expression of that support." Kemp also called for solidarity and prayers for Israel's safety, swift victory, and the families impacted by the attacks.

The decision to increase investment in Israeli bonds follows a coordinated attack on October 7, 2023, by individuals from Gaza targeting civilians in Israel. The attacks have claimed the lives of more than 1,200 Israelis, including 25 American citizens, with Hamas militants also taking both American and Israeli citizens hostage.

Governor Kemp's investment in Israeli bonds is part of his ongoing support for Israel. Earlier this year, he led a delegation of state officials on an economic development trip to Israel, where they toured different parts of the country, including areas affected by the initial attacks. During the visit, they held discussions with key Israeli officials on various topics, including security matters in the Middle East.

To show solidarity with Israel, Governor Kemp issued Executive Order 10.11.23.03, directing the lowering of the United States and Georgia State flags to half-staff until sunset on Saturday, October 14, marking a week since the onset of the attacks.

In response to a report by the National Review, which alleged that former President Trump criticized the Israeli government and tied the situation in Israel to his electoral concerns, Governor Kemp took to social media. He posted on X, "Women, children, elderly, Israelis, and Americans alike have been slaughtered by these evil terrorists. It is never acceptable to praise deranged murderers or undermine one of our closest allies in their darkest hour."

Governor Kemp's investment in Israeli bonds and his call for solidarity and prayers underscore Georgia's unwavering support for Israel's defense efforts and its commitment to standing together against terrorism in the region.
