Atlanta Braves' Swanson, Chicago Red Stars' Pugh announce engagement

Marketing agents are drooling all over themselves with possibilities after Atlanta Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson and Mallory Pugh of the U.S. women's national soccer team announced their engagement on Instagram.

The two have been together since 2017 and together make a formidable duo, with some impressive accolades under their belts, ESPN reported.

"The couple met through Swanson's former teammate Jace Peterson, now with the Milwaukee Brewers, who is married to Pugh's sister," according to ESPN.

Swanson recently celebrated a World Series championship five years after his Major League Baseball debut with the Braves in 2016, ESPN reported. Swanson hit for .248 with 27 home runs and 88 RBIs this past season.

Pugh, who's been a member of the U.S. national team since 2016, plays with the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League, ESPN reported. She competed at the 2019 World Cup and the 2016 Summer Olympics.
