County of Gwinnett issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.
Two Gwinnett County solid waste haulers, Republic Services and Waste Management, are temporarily suspending certain collection services due to a surge in COVID-19 infections among their workforces.
Republic Services and Waste Management customers will be impacted by service interruptions differently. Here’s how:
Republic Services
Republic Services has suspended recycling, bulky item, and yard waste pickup in order to prioritize trash collection while its workforce is limited. During this temporary service interruption, Republic Services customers in Gwinnett County may take their recycling, bulky items, or household trash to a drop-off site at one of the following locations at no cost to the customer:
- Recyclable Materials Only – 75 Curtis Road, Lawrenceville, GA (Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 6:00pm)
- Household Trash/Bulky Items – 51 Patrick Mill Road SW, Winder, GA (Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 4:00pm; Saturday 6:00am – noon)
- Household Trash/Bulky Items – Richland Creek Landfill, 5691 S Richland Creek Road, Buford, GA (Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 4:00pm; Saturday 6:00am – noon)
- Household Trash/Bulky Items – Oak Grove Landfill, 937 Carl Bethlehem Road, Winder, GA (Monday – Friday, 6:00am – 4:00pm; Saturday 6:00am – noon)
Waste Management
Effective Friday, January 7, Waste Management will pause collection of bulky item and yard waste pickup in unincorporated Gwinnett County while its workforce is limited. Waste Management will prioritize trash and recycling services.
Customers affected by Waste Management’s temporary suspension of bulky item pickup can drop off up to two bulky items per week at no cost to the customer at the Lawrenceville Transfer Station, located at 350 Maltbie Industrial Drive in Lawrenceville (Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pm).
