Owing to help from the Gwinnett County Police Department, U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents were able to seize approximately $16 million worth of counterfeit items.
The two shipments of counterfeit luxury merchandise arrived at a Lawrenceville, Georgia, house from Mexico on Sept. 28, Fox 5 Atlanta reported. There, Gwinnett police uncovered a couple's illegal business selling fake goods with approximately $16 million worth of products in stock, assuming they were priced as genuine products.
"The Gwinnett Police Special Investigation Section Vice Unit seized over 9,000 counterfeit items valued at over $16,000,000 MSRP from a business named Real Moda with the assistance of CBP in Memphis, TN and (HSI)," Gwinnett County police said in a Twitter post on Feb. 8.
The phony goods included Louis Vuitton bags, Rolex watches, and Versace and Chanel sunglasses, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
