With more than 4 million ballots cast in the 2018 state election, Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said he expects to see record turnout for this year’s state election.
According to a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta, this comes as the state passed the GOP-led Election Integrity Act, extending early voting one extra Saturday and giving counties the ability to opt-in to as many as two Sundays of early voting, marking 17 required days of advanced voting.
"We think we'll see record turnout for this state election," Sec. Raffensperger told FOX 5 Atlanta.
With Oct. 11, marking the first official day of the early voting season, where county officials could mail absentee ballots to voters, Raffensperger asserts more than 190,000 ballots have already been requested by voters, the report states.
While voters can go online to request an absentee ballot by providing an acceptable form of identification on their application, anyone requesting an absentee ballot must print out the application, sign it and submit it to their county elections office either in person, by mail or electronically, FOX 5 reports.
A valid driver's license or state identification number must be provided, or voters may attach a photocopy of another acceptable form of identification to their application.
