Gwinnett County Police are remembering Officer Antwan Toney on the fourth anniversary of his death, posting photos and sharing memories of him on social media, according to a recent report by Fox 5 Atlanta.

Toney’s sister, Carla Johnson, said he was the life of the party, adding that anyone who met him would instantly fall in love with him after their first interaction.

"Antwan was one of the good guys, and he wanted to join the police force to bridge that gap between law enforcement and the community," Johnson told Fox 5 Atlanta.

The Gwinnett County Police Officer was 30 years old and just six days short of his third anniversary on the force when he was shot and killed in the line of duty on Oct. 20, 2018, while responding to a report of a suspicious car behind Shiloh Middle School in Gwinnett County.

"Today and every day, we honor the memory of Officer Antwan Toney #1808, end of watch October 20, 2018. Rest easy, we have the watch from here," Gwinnett County Police tweeted on Oct. 20.

Toney’s department remembered him as "a very jovial person, very dedicated to his job, dedicated to his serving his community,” according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

With Toney being the fifth Gwinnett County officer killed in the line of duty, days after his death, authorities found 18-year-old Tafahree Maynard, who they say was responsible for the murder. Officers said they were forced to shoot Maynard after he tried to attack them with a lawn mower blade. Maynard died at the scene of his arrest.
