Duluth, GA — Rep. Lucy McBath (GA-07) launched the 2023 Congressional App Challenge, a competition designed to promote innovation and inspire student engagement in computer science, coding, and technology. This year’s competition is now open for students to register. All submissions will be due on November 1st, 2023 at 12PM EST. Students can register for the competition here.

“The Congressional App Challenge is another great opportunity for Seventh District students to show off their skills,” said McBath. “I am eager to see the creativity and talent put on display by the young people who will participate in this exciting competition.”

The Congressional App Challenge is open to all middle and high school students who live and/or attend school in Georgia’s Seventh Congressional District. Participants are encouraged to register to compete and must make their final app submission no later than November 1st at 12PM EST.

Officially launched by the United States House of Representatives in 2015, this nationwide effort allows students to compete against their peers by creating an application (also known as an “app”) for desktop/PC, web, tablet, mobile, raspberry Pi, or other devices. The competition accepts any programming language: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Ruby, or "block code".

The results of the challenge will be determined by Rep. McBath and a panel of expert judges. The judging period will take place in November and winners will be announced in December. The winner from each congressional district will be featured on CongressionalAppChallenge.us. The winning app will also be eligible for display in the U.S. Capitol.
