The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners has sanctioned a series of infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing road conditions and pedestrian access throughout the county. These decisions were made during their meeting on February 18.
A significant part of the initiative involves resurfacing over 119 miles of residential streets across the county. To achieve this, the Board has approved six term contracts worth $36 million. The work will encompass pavement patching, asphalt milling, asphalt topping, adjustments to water valves and manhole covers, and new pavement markings. Stewart Brothers, Inc. is tasked with managing three of these contracts, while Scruggs Company will handle the other three.
In addition to road resurfacing, the Board has also greenlit a project for sidewalk expansion along Pucketts Mill Road. This development will see new sidewalks built on the east side of Pucketts Mill Road from Lilly Way to Hamilton Mill Road. The project aims to improve pedestrian connectivity and safety through curb and gutter installation and drainage enhancements.
Backbone Infrastructure, LLC has been awarded this contract valued at $491,753. Funding for this project comes from the 2017 SPLOST program.
