Platt College-Miller-Motte Technical-Augusta issued the following announcement on Feb. 15.

The Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday approved the appointment of Adrienne McAllister as Human Resources Director. The appointment was made by County Administrator Glenn Stephens.

McAllister joined Gwinnett County’s HR department in 2013, was named a manager in 2015, Deputy Director of HR Operations in 2020, and Acting Department Director in 2021.

“We are fortunate to have such a knowledgeable and experienced person to help plan and support our organizational goals and priorities,” said County Administrator Glenn Stephens. “Adrienne has played a key role in expanding our public safety recruitment and retention efforts over the past few years and has a deep understanding of employment laws, regulations and best practices. She brings tremendous value to the County and embraces the Gwinnett Standard.”

McAllister began her career with Verizon in New York as an HR Clerk in 1996. She later joined the University of Maryland where she served as Benefits Administrator, then moved to Geico in Fredericksburg, VA, as a compliance specialist, focused on Family Medical Leave Act and Americans with Disabilities Act issues.

“I’m honored to continue supporting Gwinnett’s nearly 6,000 employees as they work to uphold the Gwinnett Standard of excellence,” said McAllister. “Gwinnett County has long been an employer of choice and I look forward to exploring new opportunities that elevate our employee experience and create a more inclusive and equitable workplace.”

She graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and is certified by the Society of Human Resources Management. McAllister lives in Loganville and is a member of the Georgia Local Government Personnel Association and the Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce.
