Police have charged a man with killing his wife's divorce attorney and leaving him burning in his Lawrenceville office, a recent report by FOX 5 Atlanta said.

Gwinnett County Attorney Doug Louis was found in a burned office on Stone Mountain Street, where 65-year-old Allen Tayeh was seen leaving the scene with burns. Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services went to the office to put out the fire as police responded to a report of a fire at a business.

"The suspect that was detained actually had injuries that were consistent with being in or near the fire, he had burns on the pants, singed hair," Lt. Jake Parker of the Lawrenceville Police Department told FOX 5 Atlanta.

Police took Tayeh into custody on murder and arson charges after officers found him leaving the scene holding a pistol upon their arrival, the FOX 5 report said.

The family of the victim has since indicated that Louis suffered several gunshot wounds to the body.

At the time of the attack, Lewis was representing Tayeh's wife in ongoing divorce proceedings, and the couple was scheduled to appear in court for another hearing just a few days after the violence took place; the FOX 5 report said.

Tayeh was booked in the Gwinnett County jail.
