Oakland A's catcher Sean Murphy will join the Atlanta Braves this season, reuniting with former teammate Matt Olson, according to a report by MLB.com.

Murphy's welcome addition to the Braves comes alongside mainstays Olson and Travis d'artaud publicly embracing the catcher to the team.

“I think there’s a lot of great things about Atlanta," Murphy told MLB.com. "Not to mention they’ve been winning a lot of games, and they won the 2021 World Series. I want to win one too. I think Atlanta is a great place to start.”

According to the report, the Braves acquired Murphy as the centerpiece of a three-team deal involving the Oakland As, reuniting the highly regarded catcher with former teammate Matt Olsen, the veteran hurler the team plucked from the A's less than a year ago.

During his time in Oakland, the catcher, who is expected to split time at the position with d’Arnaud, was frequently compared with Philadelphia Phillie's star J.T. Realmuto, widely viewed as the top overall performer in the game at the position, MLB.com reports.

This comes as Murphy was already spending time this offseason working out with Braves star pitcher Kyle Wright, who produced an MLB-best 21 wins for the Braves last year. As Spring Training approaches, he added he looks forward to developing a better feel for star holdovers Max Fried, Spencer Strider and Charlie Morton.
